Day time skincare regime vs Night time regime

A common question I get from my clients. "Is what is the difference between a day and night routine?"

Our night time regime should be more thorough with a double cleanse to ensure make up if fully removed. If extra deep cleansing is performed at night, the skin only requires one cleanse in the morning.

Applying more layers of products and a heavier moisturizer at night, allows the skin longer absorption time while sleeping. While morning applications are fewer, usually vitamin C,  Hyaluronic Acid, and a light weight moisturizer, to allow for quicker absorption, especially if applying under make up.

Retin A & Retinols are to be applied at night only and can be topped with a layer of moisturizer to lessen sensitivity, or if the skin is really reactive a thin layer can be applied before the Retin A to add a buffer and after for the "sandwich" method.

The main goal when it comes to a Retin A or Tret is to apply consistently for best results. When first starting with a Vitamin A it's best to gradually introduce into the skin. Start with a few times a week and build up to nightly. It's ok to take a small break and restart to let skin heal if it gets too red, peeling and sensitive. Gradually build up tolerance.

When my clients purchase products from me at my spa, Skincare By Della, I like to write down the AM & PM steps on a prescription pad for their reference.

It can feel overwhelming at first when using a few different products, but quickly the regime becomes second nature, and the benefits are fabulous!
